Human activities have brought the Earth system out of its stable functioning for 10 millennia. Humanity is therefore entering the Anthropocene, the epoch on Earth where the human species is on an equal footing with geological forces.
2Consequences
Agriculture is one of the first human activities meeting a fundamental need: food.
Industry, transport, housing are human activities that meet needs (housing, transportation, communication, entertainment, etc.). These human activities require resources: energy (more than 80% of which is of fossil origin) and materials, many of which are metals and minerals.
